What did the survey results show?

The survey results showed that people normally don’t like being completely truthful with the questions, for example, all questions that asked if the site was helpful were, for the most part, replied with as “No comment”, as if to say they didn’t want to offend who the survey was directed for.

Were there any questions that were not effective? Which ones?

Unfortunately some questions should have had more answers because most were replied with as “No comment”, maybe implying that the answer they wanted to give wasn’t the others.

If you had to develop the survey over again, what would you do differently?

Definitely change the amount of answers that were on each question, aswell as change some of the questions, some of them seemed to be redundant and it would have been better to put more thought into them.

What do you think are the best things about collaborative writing with wikis? Are there any features which you would avoid in future?

Collaborative writing with Wikis can be fun and aslong as everyone gets along and doesn’t try to dominate the group it’s fine, but when people start re-writing everything that you’ve previously written without your consent it can get a bit frustrating.

What are the advantages of online surveys? Are there any disadvantages? Is there information you cannot capture?

Online surveys are quick and easy, also don’t require any input from the client, eg: a phone survey, one of their disadvantages is with say a multiple choice survey some of the answers the surveyer may want to give might not be what they truly mean and can’t elaborate on their answer.

Question 1: How is the World Wide Web related to the Internet?

The internet is the connection of a huge amount of servers all over the world, the web is the ability to access that information from any one point in that huge amount of servers through a web browser, so they’re very much related.

Question 2: What is the primary publishing format on the web?

The primary publishing format on the web is HTML – Hyper Text Markup Language.

Question 3: Include a useful hypertext link to any web site which lists the elements used in this publishing format.

The elements that are used in HTML are listed here: W3C HTML 4.01 Elements List

Question 4: Which organisation’s role is it to develop standards for the web?

The World Wide Web Consortium, or W3C for short, is an organisation that’s mission is to develop standards for the web, although these standards do not have to be enforced.

Question 5: List at least two popular web publishing standards described by this organisation.

HTML and XHTML

Question 6: What is this organisation’s goals?

The W3C’s mission is to allow ALL people to have the convenience of the web, whatever their hardware, software, network infrastructure, native language, culture, geographical location, or physical or mental ability.

Question 7: Why is validation a good practice for developing web documents?

Validating is good practice because it allows you to realise your frequent mistakes and can also allow you to learn new things that you hadn’t know before about writing the code. Practice makes perfect.
